Hosting Cooperative Missions on Hyperlobby

This is a simple run through for those of you who have never hosted a COOP mission on Hyperlobby.  Most COOPs are launched from the TEAM ROOM (but can be started from any room actually).  I assume you have Hyperlobby installed and working normally before we start...I will NOT cover IOW, DiD or VEF hosting here...I suggest you go to the appropriate URLs for these online wars to get the documentation as to how to host these missions.

First off, we select the FIRST TOP slot in a mission at HL (see Figure 1 below):

Figure 1

Next chat to announce you are going to host or use a voice comms program....have everybody each TAKE A SLOT in the mission below you.  Finally, when you get ready to LAUNCH you will Left CLICK on the GREEN button in the upper right corner to LAUNCH (see Figure 2):

Figure 2

As you can see, it's pretty self-explanatory...moving your mouse cursor over the GREEN button brings up the "click here for game launch" hint...now before IL2 actually starts, you will see this BOX pop up next (see Figure 3):

Figure 3

Enter a GAME description (can be any name you wish), number of COOP players, difficulty setting and password...as far as I know these are optional...next click on "Start the game" to start the Il2 program...

You should next see the initial IL2 loading screen followed by the CREATE NEW SERVER screen...the NAME you typed in the HL preferences and Max players will be automatically entered for you (see Figure 4 below):

Figure 4

GAME TYPE can be either DOGFIGHT or COOPERATIVE...the choice is obvious...just click on the white arrow to change it if necessary.  Next Left Click on Create to move to the next screen

Now under COOPERATIVE we must choose a mission (see Figure 5).  We choose the Bf109F4 COOP campaign (made with Starshoy's Il2Gen, for example)

Figure 5

Then within this campaign choose the Escort Bombers mission  to fly (Figure 6 below):

Figure 6

Next we select DIFFICULTY (Figure 7):

Figure 7

We click on BACK once we pick our difficulty options and now PICK a mission to LOAD

We select "Escort bombers", but we certainly could pick any of these COOP missions.  We click on LOAD and:

Figure 8

We wait for the mission to finish loading and other players begin to join (Figure 8 above)

We now can see the next screen which is our briefing (Figure 9):

Figure 9

Clicking on AIRCRAFT takes us to the AIRCRAFT screen (Figure 10):

Figure 10

We select a slot...I am flying in position 1 (the LEAD) in this flight...my teammates will join quickly...next select ARMING (Figure 11):

Figure 11

I can select my custom multiplayer skin for my plane from the dropdown list (as can my teammates and COOP human enemies if they wish).

Likewise, WEAPON LOADOUT, GUN and ROCKET CONVERGENCES, FUEL and WEAPON DELAYS are configured on this screen by typing in values or toggling the white arrow (for Fuel).  Figure 12 shows my final choice for this flight:

Figure 12

We click on APPLY which returns us to the AIRCRAFT selection screen (Figure 13):

Figure 13

Now we are ready to FLY...N.B.  IF we go back to BRIEFING at this point and then come back to the AIRCRAFT selection screen, our Plane loadout, skin, etc. settings will return to DEFAULT, so I suggest that once you get your selections you proceed to FLY...Once you click on FLY...you cannot go BACK (Figure 14):

Figure 14

You will see all the other players PINGS as you sit at the FLY screen as the players ready up and join.  Finally when everyone has READY indicated to the RIGHT of their callsign, you (as HOST) can click the FLY button and you will be placed in the cockpit ready to start your mission (Figure 15 below):

Figure 15

Sometimes in the cockpit you will see a YELLOW countdown while everybody is READIED UP to fly...when the YELLOW numbers disappear...the mission starts!

Enjoy and GOOD LUCK!!   After the mission ends (either at ENDSCREEN debrief, or if you leave early or are killed "virtually"), you are always automatically returned to Hyperlobby!

STATS Tutorial (Yuri’s Notes on Il-2 STATS in MULTIPLAY)

People are always asking, "how do I do the mission STATS?"...well here are some tips:

*“6. Notes on the Event Logging

Any user participating in an online co-operative game, or playing in single-player mode, may now enable logging of events into a text file. To do so, add a eventlog key under the [game] section in the conf.ini file.

E.g.:

[game]

eventlog=coop.lst

In this case, all major activity will be logged into ‘coop.lst’ file, and may be reviewed later (i.e. with help of the Notepad).

In addition to this, when playing a co-operative mission, the current status of every player in the game is automatically logged into this file at the end of the mission (with score, kills, and dead/alive state), including players that left before the mission ended.

The AI units names are their ‘mission’ names and basically intended for log-parsing software.

The number in brackets after an aircraft name (i.e. r01011(0) ) represents an individual crew member of the given aircraft (with 0 being the pilot, 1 - co-pilot or rear gunner, and so on).”

*THE ABOVE stuff in quotes is taken DIRECTLY from OLEG’s README file for IL2 version 1.1

I would suggest setting up the above file (which will be generated automatically during a mission) by modifying your CONF.INI file as above EXCEPT I call my file coop.txt, NOT coop.lst…VEF is set up to recognize this file as coop.txt, so I would stick with this title (coop.txt)!

N.B.  IF YOU DO NOT SET UP YOUR CONF.INI to GENERATE this eventlog, COOP.TXT file, IT WILL NEVER BE PRESENT AFTER A MISSION!!!!

After running a multiplayer mission, if you open the coop.txt file in your Il2 main folder with WORD or NOTEPAD you will see something like this:

EVERY event that happened is recorded in this file.  In order to see the individual pilot breakdowns (in this case Yuri and Saku)…you must WAIT until landing and ending the mission.   If you don’t wait til ENDSCREEN (you know the screen with all the points at the mission end) you will get a truncated coop.txt file that ends as soon as you have left the game or been killed.   It would look like this:

It is possible to generate such a printout using the console function and alias functions

First you need to add this to your CONF.INI file under the [console] section:

[Console]

HISTORY=1024

HISTORYCMD=1024

LOAD=console.cmd

SAVE=console.cmd

LOG=0

LOGTIME=0

LOGFILE=C:\stat.txt

Just make sure you have the c:\stat.txt in the LOGFILE command as above

Second, place the enclosed rcu file in your main IL2 folder (it’s included with this ZIP)

The contents are as follows:

@set fast off

@set echo on

@set alias on

@set history 20

@alias a alias

@a if f C:\IL2logscript.txt

@a h history

@a s show

@a ez mp_dotrange FOE DOT 6 COLOR 1 TYPE 2 NAME .1 ID .1 RANGE 1

@a ef mp_dotrange FRIENDLY DOT 8 COLOR 2 TYPE .5 NAME .1 ID 3 RANGE 1

@a icon mp_dotrange

These are CONSOLE commands that you can type within the game (… the stuff on the icons is for customized icons (we can go over this later…ignore for now))

At the endscreen all you need to do is type the “>” key followed by “if” and then ENTER key

This will generate a simplified STAT.TXT file on your hard drive in the root directory of C: that you can open with NOTEPAD or WORD

REMEMBER for this to work though you must

  1. Add the LOGFILE=C:\STAT.TXT to your [CONSOLE] section of the CONF.INI
  2. place the rcu file (creates alias console functions) in your main IL2 folder (main IL2 folder contains the il2.exe file)
  3. at the endscreen type “>if” (no quotes though) followed by the ENTER key
  4. this generates the STAT.TXT file in your root directory of your C: drive

If this later stuff is too confusing just use the COOP.TXT file instead

Feel free to share this with one and all…

P.S.  other hints…
