An IL2 Forgotten Battles Squadron

Welcome to the Homebase of the 12th IAP VVS Guards!

It is the summer of 1941.  In a fierce blitzkrieg attack, Adolf Hitler's Wermacht has invaded Russia, thus breaking the German-Soviet non-aggression pact, which Hitler and Stalin had signed on August 23 1939.  The German army has marched in with over three million soldiers, including 75 percent of the field troops and 61 percent of the Luftwaffe.  The invading forces counting no less than 153 divisions among their number, including 19 of the total 21 tank divisions. Unwilling to accept defeat, Russia launches a massive counteroffensive for survival.  The Russian Aircraft industry is about to undergo its baptism by fire.  Thus begins the story of the greatest air war in the history of human conflict...

We are a virtual Russian Air Force World War II Squadron flying for fun with the games IL-2 (by UbiSoft) and its sequel, IL-2 The Forgotten Battles.  We fly for the V.V.S. against the Germans and the Finns in Eastern Front.  We have no connection to the actual country of Russia, nor to the former Soviet Union.  We do not support nor endorse the Communist Party!  Everything we do here is in FUN!! and part of a great World War II flight simulation GAME!!  Our goal is to simulate the intense action that took place in the skies over the Eastern Front in World War II.  As such we will not tolerate any actual prejudice towards any of the countries or residents of these countries!

The real 12th IAP fought in the defense of Moscow during 1941-1943.  The regiment flew the i-153, MiG-3, Yak-1, Yak-7 and also tested the Yak-9PD fighters.  Major K. Marenkov was the commander.  In July, 1942, the 20th IAP and 120th IAP merged to become the 12th Guards IAP.  We represent all 3 of these regiments (In Pacific Fighters, we will fly as VBF-80, a U.S. Navy squad).

Disclaimer: The 12th IAP does not support any belief or ideology representative of the former Soviet Union's communist party. We honor the past sacrifices of the pilots who fought for their countries and pay respect to all lost in the conflict, regardless of nationality.
